Tuesdy, August 1, 2012

Greetings to all from Moscow!  Flying in this morning, all we saw were farm fields and woods.  The airport seemed a bit small for such a major city but relatively efficient...especially given that we didn't have to fill out any forms as they were done for us electronically based on our passports and visas!  Once through a very easy customs, we found the Viking River Cruise group and shortly were on a buss to our boat.  Unfortunately Moscow traffic is a real mess, so it took almost two hours to get to the Rurik (named for the founder of Russia).  But, fortunately the boat is really grand, cabin about 240 square feet with a lovely private veranda, only 198 passengers, delicious food with all the wine we want...we're happy!  We'll be in Moscow until about 2:30 PM Saturday and are really looking forward to exploring.

Tomorrow from 1:30-9:30 PM we'll be on a "up-close Moscow tour" via metro and walking that will end with a classical folklore concert that's not to be missed.

Looking forward to talking with you tomorrow...or maybe Thursday since we'll be in so late and will still have to eat dinner.
